The authors' company directionally drilled a 5,346-ft crossing of the San Jacinto River east of Houston. The crossing represented the first time a river has been directionally drilled beyond the mile mark opening the way for longer projects. Crews drilled and pulled the 6-in. diameter natural gas and condensate line under the Bear Lake section of the San Jacinto River. The project required 14 days to complete. On completion, the system connected several wells near the crossing's entry site with a newly completed Cowboy Pipeline Co. separation facility.
