Staying alive: the psychology of human survival

Book ·
OSTI ID:5646634
Human beings need not live on the edge of global extinction. The author advocates that the problems created by greed, aggression, and ignorance (such as pollution, nuclear weaponry, and ecological imbalances) can be altered by individual and collective effort to confront inner confusion. By making the effort to educate each other, changing beliefs about themselves and others, and reducing fear and defensiveness, people can work toward developing the positive global psychology that the author outlines. Using the principles of behavior modification, he reinterprets motivation to apply to a global therapy based on optimism and good will. An appendix gives the names and addresses of organizations working toward the resolution of global problems. 174 references.
