Superconducting fluctuations, weak localization, and electron interactions in three-dimensional Nb:Si

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev. B: Condens. Matter; (United States)
Measurements of the temperature-dependent conductivity and the magnetoconductivity of a three-dimensional (3D) Nb:Si film are presented. These results are analyzed using superconducting fluctuation, weak localization, and electron-electron interaction theories, giving values for the inelastic scattering time and the spin-orbit scattering time. It was found that the Aslamasov-Larkin term of the superconducting fluctuations was necessary to explain the data and that the function ..beta..(H-italic) in the Maki-Thompson term is not as yet satisfactorily derived by theory. The magnetoconductance results for a 2D Nb:Si film are given for a comparison.
