The book discusses the energy predicament of developing countries, their consumption patterns of bio-energy, deforestation, biomass options and their theoretical, environmental, and socio-economic limitations, biomass conversion systems for liquid fuels and ammonia, the advantages and disadvantages of biogas production, approaches and constraints of charcoal making and fuelwood plantations, implementation strategies, and policy considerations. The essence of the book is that small decentralized applications of biomass systems is a powerful tool for rural development and larger Energy Farm systems would additionally provide a source of employment and income to rural dwellers.
