Title VII of the Oil Pollution Act of 1990 Established the Interagency Committee to coordinate a comprehensive program of oil pollution research, technology development, and demonstration among the federal agencies, in cooperation with industry, universities, research institutions, State governments, and other nations...' The International Oil Pollution Research and Development Abstract Database was developed by the U.S. Coast Guard on behalf of the Interagency Coordinating Committee on Oil Pollution Research to comply with this mandate. It is hoped that this exchange of information will reduce redundant research and encourage collaborative efforts.
