Results of experiments on a system that measures the temperature of coke cakes in coke ovens were presented. The system was tested in 30.9 cubic meter coke ovens with a coking time of 14.5 hours. No failures were noted in the operation of the system. Temperature measurements were also taken of the heating wall for comparison using an optical pyrometer, and it was concluded that there was good agreement between the temperature measurements, and that it was possible to obtain an accurate temperature curve of the coke cake.
