The Ott/Story/Cordova National Priorities List (NPL) site is located two miles north of the City of North Muskegon, in Dalton Township, Muskegon County, Michigan. Numerous volatile and semi-volatile organic compounds have been detected in on-site groundwater and soil as well as off-site groundwater, surface water, sediments and air. Primary concerns of the community involve the possible health effects resulting from ingesting contaminated groundwater and inhaling contaminated air. The latter concern is particularly strong for those residents living closest to the area where groundwater seeps from the banks of an unnamed tributary.
