Energy dependence of /sup 40/Ca+/sup 12/C elastic scattering at 90/sup 0/ and 180/sup 0/

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev., C; (United States)
Excitation functions have been measured for the elastic scattering of /sup 40/Ca+/sup 12/C at 180/sup 0/ and 90/sup 0/. The excitation functions at the two angles are found to be anticorrelated, an effect which is quite similar to that observed previously in /sup 28/Si+/sup 16/O and /sup 28/Si+/sup 12/C elastic scattering. It is found from distorted-wave Born-approximation analyses of the energy dependence that the one-step elastic transfer process is probably not responsible for the observed resonancelike structure around 180/sup 0/ nor for the anticorrelation in the excitation functions at the two angles in /sup 40/Ca+/sup 12/C scattering.
