Storage of drilling machinery

Conference · · Soc. Pet. Eng. AIME, Pap.; (United States)
OSTI ID:5632029
Storage of drilling machinery has typically consisted of simply stacking the rig in a yard until the next contract is obtained. In some cases a fresh coat of paint may have been applied to give the equipment some protection. To minimize machinery deterioration and subsequent start-up problems, more extensive protection is required particularly for extended storage periods. Suggested storage procedures for rig components are presented in this paper.
