Journal Article · · EIS; (United States)
OSTI ID:5631046
Sale of oil and gas leases on 540 tracts containing 3.1 million acres of the outer continental shelf beneath the Atlantic Ocean offshore of southeast Cape Cod and Nantucket Island, Massachusetts is proposed. Development of oil and gas resources located beneath the tracts would involve construction of 20 platforms and 31 subsea complexes and installation of a maximum of 17 exploratory wells, 26 delineation wells, and 473 production wells. Gas would be transported from the wells by pipeline, while oil would be transported by tanker to refineries in the Raritan and Delaware bays. Positive and negative impacts are discussed.
