Catalysis is considered worldwide as one of the top research frontiers of chemistry. It is the backbone of the chemical industry and the key to the production of fabrics, foodstuffs, fuels, and pharmaceutical. It is also a fundamental feature of all life processes. This book discusses the state of the art and perspectives in various fields of catalysis science and engineering. Topics discussed include design of catalysts based on metal complexes, catalysis with giant palladium clusters, organometallic surface chemistry and its importance to heterogeneous catalysis, catalysis with organized molecular systems, principal concepts of chemical kinetics, and methods of mathematical modelling used in design and optimization of heterogeneous catalytic reactions and reactors.
