Turbulence modification in multiphase flows 1991
This volume contains the papers presented at the International symposium on Turbulence Modification in Multiphase Flows. The papers presented here cover a range of gas-liquid, gas-solid, and liquid-solid flows. They consider situations in which a dispersed phase modifies the flow characteristics of a continuous phase or a gas-liquid interphase modifies the turbulence and the flow structure of both phases. Flows of this type are difficult to realize in a laboratory setup, and many instruments used in single-phase flow research need to be modified in order to yield meaningful results under these flow conditions. Numerical modeling of multiphase flows, in which the turbulence is modified by the second phase, is also more complex and not as well understood as that of single-phase flows.
