Denver Unit CO/sub 2/ Recovery Plant: Operations update and future processing considerations

The Denver Unit CO/sub 2/ Recovery Plant processes CO/sub 2/-contaminated casinghead gas produced from an enhanced oil recovery project in west Texas. Products derived from the feed gas include liquid CO/sub 2/ which is reinjected into the reservoir, a mixed natural gas liquid stream, elemental sulfur, and plant fuel gas consisting primarily of methane. In this paper significant operating and maintenance experience since the June 1986 startup are summarized. Plans to increase plant capacity beyond the 140 MMSCFD design rate are outlined.
