High-energy-density composite flywheel

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:5626835
A flywheel has been designed and fabricated to demonstrate a high energy density of 36 w-h/lb (80 w-h/kg) in the rotor. The rotor design consists of a multiring, subcircular rim made of S-glass/epoxy composite and Kevlar/epoxy composite materials and mounted on a spoked hub made of graphite/epoxy composite materials. Two flywheel rotors are available for test.
