Banff Oil Ltd., with approval of the Alberta Oil and Gas Conservation Board, has commenced a sequential miscible flood of the several Rainbow Keg River pools. Banff engineers estimate that recoveries in the various pools using this mechanism will range up to 97% of oil in place. A brief description of the overall plan is given. The ''A'' pool (a cross section showing the lithofacies encountered in wells is shown) was selected for the initial miscible flood because of its good reservoir characteristics; the miscibility and solvent bank size are discussed. A 3- dimensional, 3-phase mathematical model was used to study the placement of the solvent bank. Tentative recovery factor for this ''A'' placement of the solvent bank. Tentative recovery factor for this ''A'' pool was set at 88%.
