Color-octet contributions to associated J/{psi}+{gamma} hadroproduction are studied in detail, and found to be negligible, compared to the ordinary color-singlet contribution. Within the color-singlet model J/{psi}+{gamma} production in leading order is possible only through the gluon-gluon fusion process. Therefore, associate J/{psi}+{gamma} hadroproduction remains useful as a clean channel to probe the gluon distribution inside the proton, to study the heavy quarkonia production mechanism, and to find the proton{close_quote}s spin structure. {copyright} {ital 1997} {ital The American Physical Society}
