Interdependence of in-pile creep and void swelling in Ti- and Nb-stabilized stainless steels

From a pressurized capsules irradiation experiment RIPCEX I in-pile creep deformation data were obtained by subtracting the strains due to swelling from the total deformations. The remaining creep strains may be explained as the sum of two deformation processes. The first one is proportional to stress and irradiation dose and corresponds to a SIPA type creep while the second one is proportional to stress and volume swelling and is comparable to the I-creep proposed by Gittus. The proportionality factors for these mechanisms are fairly constant for different stabilized austenitic steels within the temperature range applied in this irradiation experiment.
