Several dirhenium (II) species that contain mixed sets of carbonyl, isocyanide, and/or nitrile ligands have been prepared from the reactions between Re/sub 2/Cl/sub 4/(dppm)/sub 2/(CO)(CNR) (dppm = Ph/sub 2/PCHPPh/sub 2/; R = t-Bu, xyl (xylyl)), and the appropriate ligands in the presence of TlPF/sub 6/. The crystal structures of these compounds are reported. The terminally-bound ligand noted in the complexes (Re/sub 2/Cl/sub 3/(dppm)/sub 2/(CO)(CN-t-Bu)/sub 2/)PF/sub 6/ and (Re/sub 2/CL/sub 3/(dppm)/sub 2/(CO)(CN-t-Bu)(CNxyl))PF/sub 6/ indicates structures that have not been previously reported. Complexes in which there are mixed sets of carbonyl, isocyanide, and nitrile ligands, viz. (Re/sub 2/Cl/sub 3/(dppm)/sub 2/(CO)(CNR)(CNR'))PF/sub 6/ are also reported. 20 refs., 1 fig., 5 tabs.
