Overview of glove box processing of radioisotopes

Conference · · Trans. Am. Nucl. Soc.; (United States)

A glove box is a confinement enclosure where manual operations with noxious substances may be performed. Operators have access to the interior by inserting their hands and arms into long gauntlet gloves sealed to the glove box walls at their cuffs. Glove boxes have been widely used for handling alpha emitters and soft beta emitters where confinement is much more important than the hazards of penetrating radiation.
