Catalytic activity of mordenites with polyvalent cations in reaction of N/sub 2/O decomposition

The catalytic activity of mordenites containing cations of alkaline-earth and certain rare-earth elements has been investigated in the reaction of N/sub 2/O decomposition. It was found that the catalytic activity of the different cationic forms of mordenite is determined solely by the number of strong oxidizing centers created upon the appearance of the H-form of mordenite. Only the Ce/sup 3 +/ cation, among those cations investigated, probably contributed to the catalytic activity.
