A kinetic study has been made of coke formation in the temperature interval 430-470/sup 0/C in the reaction of n-decane dehydrogenation on a promoted platinum-alumina catalyst. The kinetic equation of coke formation takes into account the formation of coke on fresh catalyst and also on a coked catalyst surface. It is shwon that deactivation of the catalyst is related to coke deposition.
