  1. Aladdin Middle East Ltd., Ankara (TR)
This paper reports that in January, Aladdin Middle East Ltd. spudded 1 Cinarli, a wildcat on the western margin of the Sea of Marmara in the area of some of the earliest documented oil and gas shows in Turkey. Aladdin and an affiliate, Transmediterranean Oil Co., moved Aladdin Rig No. 5, an Ideco Rambler H-1000, and all ancillary gear and camp equipment more than 1,000 miles by road and rail from Diyarbakir in Southeast Turkey to the drill site in Thrace in the far Northwest. The well will test an anticline identified as early as the 1930s in a region with several other exploratory prospects where past drilling has never tested a prospect with four-way dip closure. Aladdin and Transmediterranean are involved in some 600,000 acres around the 2 Cinarli wildcat.
