Annual review of astronomy and astrophysics. Volume 25

Book ·
OSTI ID:5605675
Selected topics in astronomy and astrophysics are discussed in reviews of recent theoretical and observational investigations. Areas addressed include star formation in molecular clouds, elements and patterns in the solar magnetic field, WR stars, IRAS observations of the extragalactic sky, Cepheids as distance indicators, and the local ISM. Consideration is given to physical conditions, dynamics, and mass distribution at the Galactic center; the existence and nature of dark matter in the universe; very-low-mass stars; the dynamical evolution of globular clusters; the Galactic spheroid and old disk; and magnetic-activity induced variations in solar irradiance.
