We have measured the fusion-fission excitation functions for the {sup 32,38}S + {sup 181}Ta reactions. The radioactive {sup 38}S was produced by projectile fragmentation of {sup 40}Ar at NSCL-MSU, and separated in the A1200 fragment separator. Time-of-flight energy was used to determine coincident fission fragments corresponding to full momentum transfer. The threshold energies were measured to be 137.5 {+-} 1.0 MeV for the {sup 32}S reaction, and 130.7 {+-} 2.0 MeV for the {sup 38}S reaction. These values are in agreement with the predictions of various systematics, and the shift in the fusion threshold with the n-rich projectile may be of interest in the synthesis of the heaviest nuclei.
