Superfund Record of Decision (EPA Region 3): Kimberton Superfund Site, Village of Kimberton, Chester County, Pennsylvania (first remedial action) September 1988

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:5601943
The Kimberton site is located in the northeastern portion of Chester County, Pennsylvania near the Philadelphia metropolitan area. The site encompasses the Monsey Products Company property and adjacent properties within the surrounding village of Kimberton. Several buried lagoons are located on the site. EPA's subsequent investigation in early 1982 indicated that soil, ground water, and surface water were contaminated by VOCs, including DCE, TCE and vinyl chloride. Currently, sampling and analysis has or currently is being performed in other lagoon areas to evaluate their potential as sources of ground-water contamination. The remedial action was designed to address the health risk to those residents who may continue to use contaminated private wells. A subsequent ROD will address other sources of contamination as well as additional ground water remediation. The primary contaminants of concern affecting the ground water are VOCs including DCE, TCE and vinyl chloride. The selected remedial action for the site is included.
