Chemical inhomogeneity of the Sculptor dwarf spheroidal galaxy

Panoramic photometry of red giants in the Sculptor dwarf spheroidal galaxy is reported. By employing a narrow-band filter system designed to measure the absorption at the lambda3883 CN band, and the Ca ii H and K lines, Sculptor is found to be inhomogeneous with respect to both cyanogen and calcium. Furthermore, the Ca and CN enhancements are correlated, suggesting similarities between the enrichment process in Sculptor and the globular clusters ..omega.. Cen and M22.
