Definitions of symbolic processing, explicit and implicit declarative knowledge, and procedural knowledge are given. Architectures for optical symbolic correlations processors for pattern recognition problems are given, and the uses of explicit and implicit declarative knowledge as well as procedural knowledge are discussed.
