Studies of tracheal secretion in organophosphate poisoned swine

Thesis/Dissertation ·
OSTI ID:5598872
The organophosphates (OP), DFP, Soman, Sarin, and VX, were given daily to male swine at an initial dosage of 2 mg, 3 ug, 15 ug and 10 ug per Kg and followed by a maintenance dosage of 1 mg, 1 ug, 5 ug and 3 ug per Kg for up to 7 days, respectively. Muscarinic receptor (mAChR) density and acetylcholinesterase (AChE) activity were determined in tracheal submucosal gland cells (TSGC) isolated by collagenase and Percoll density gradient centrifugation. The biochemical properties of mAChR were determined using ({sup 3}H)quinuclidinyl benzilate (({sup 3}H)QNB) and ({sup 3}H)N-methylscopolamine (({sup 3}H)NMS) as ligands.
