This patent describes a catalyst. It is prepared by combining one or more Group VIII metal compounds with one or more alkylalumoxanes and one or more alkyls or hydrides of metals selected from Groups Ia, IIa and IIIa of the Periodic Table of the elements in a ratio sufficient to provide an aluminum (from alkylalumoxanes) to Group VIII metal atomic ratio within the range from about 1.5:1 to about 20:1 and an aluminum (from alkyl and hydride) to Group VIII metal atomic ratio within the range from about 0.1:1 to about 20:1.
