Title: Study of reduction of accessory-horsepower requirements. Fifth quarterly progress report

The program objective is to evolve and define an accessory drive system that will minimize system power consumption of driven accessories on an internal combustion engine in a passenger automobile. The initial three program phases established concept feasibility, determined potential fuel savings, and selected a drive system design for concept mechanization. Major technical accomplishments during this reporting period were: baseline vehicle purchased; hydromechanical belt-drive design completed; mechanical belt-drive design completed; prototype hardware manufacture initiated; test program phase initiated; four tests completed; and baseline vehicle computer model initiated.
