Energy consumption in the Ohio River Basin energy study region, 1974, by end user and fuel type
This analysis was prepared as part of the Ohio River Basin Energy Study (ORBES), a multidisciplinary policy research program supported by the Environmental Protection Agency. Energy consumption as of 1974 is calculated for the ORBES region (substantial parts of Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio, all of Kentucky, most of West Virginia, and southwestern Pennsylvania). Substate energy consumption information is obtained at the Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) level and aggregated across BEA areas for an approximation to the ORBES region; a set of factors is applied to allocate partial BEA area energy consumption to the ORBES portion of a given BEA area. Comparisons also are made between regional energy consumption and energy consumption in the six-state area and the United States.
