Application of P'd function to vertically fractured wells - field cases

This study presents a technique for interpreting the pressure transient behavior of a well located in an infinite reservoir. This technique is principally based on the systematic use of the time rate of change of dimensionless well pressure behavior. A useful application of the time derivative of dimensionless well pressure function as opposed to the conventional approach which employs the pressure itself as the significant function, is the generation of interpretive drawdown and buildup type plots. Type curves generated in this manner can be used to match drawdown or buildup curves based on time rate of change of field pressure data to determine several essential basic reservoir parameters, such as permeability, skin, flow capacity, and fracture length. Field examples are solved with this method. 13 references.
