The strength function {ital S}{sub {beta}}({ital E}) and the cross section of the reaction {nu}{sub {ital e}}+{sup 127}I{r arrow}{ital e}{sup {minus}}+{sup 127}Xe are calculated in the framework of the theory of finite Fermi systems. The results obtained are used to estimate the possibility of using an iodine-xenon detector in solar-neutrino experiments. The advantages of the iodine-xenon detector over the current chlorine-argon one are shown.
