The DOE Civilian Research and Development Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 1987 authorizes operating funds for nonnuclear programs, nuclear and electric energy programs, capital for plant and equipment and prior year construction commitments. Each program and project is identified by number and facility, and each has a budget total. The authorization for supporting research and technical analysis is $474,711,000, a reduction of $66,303,000, while the authorization for general science and research is $633,671,000, a reduction of $131,729,000. Title II establishes a research and development program for advanced steel manufacturing technologies and improved energy efficiency in the steel industry.
