The effects of short-range correlated random-field-like disorder and magnetic-field fluctuations in a generalized {ital d}-dimensional Ginzburg-Landau model of unconventional superconductors are investigated by means of the renormalization-group approach to first order in {epsilon}=6{minus}{ital d}. It is found that the quenched disorder, in competition with the combined action of crystal anisotropies and magnetic fluctuations, does not create stable fixed points for {ital d}{lt}6, indicating an absence of the usual second-order phase transitions. The unstable physical fixed points may govern fluctuation-induced first-order transitions, but superconducting glass states associated with the symmetry-breaking disorder cannot be excluded {ital a} {ital priori}.
