This work is concerned with 2-body (orthokinetic) collisions between charged, equal-sized spheres of colloidal dimensions in aqueous suspensions subjected to simple shear flow at low Reynolds numbers. Suspensions of 2.6- and 4.0-micrometer diameter polystryene latex spheres in aqueous glycerol containing KCl were subjected to poseuille flow in 200-micrometer diameter tubes and the trajectories of particles undergoing 2-body collisions recorded on cine film. Trajectory equations are used to describe the collision paths of transient doublets whose spheres separate after colliding. 29 references.
