[ital CP] violation in the bosonic sector of the SM with two Higgs doublets
- Institut fuer Physik, Universitaet Dortmund, 44221 Dortmund (Germany)
We investigate [ital CP]-violation effects in the bosonic sector of the standard model (SM) with two Higgs doublets. First we calculate the mass eigenstates of the physical neutral Higgs bosons for the small but nonzero [ital CP]-violation parameter [xi][sub *], and then a forward-backward'' asymmetry [ital scrA][sub FB] for the decay [ital H][r arrow][ital W][sup +][ital W[minus]][ital Z] that would be a signal of [ital CP] violation. Although the effects are in general small ([ital scrA][sub FB]=[Gamma][sub FB]/[Gamma][similar to]10[sup [minus]3]), [ital scrA][sub FB] turns out to be a rather clean signal of [ital CP] violation, since neither the [ital CP]-conserving final state interactions nor the direct production background events contribute to [Gamma][sub FB]. The CKM-type [ital CP]-violation effects that could in principle also contribute to [ital scrA][sub FB] are negligible. The nonzero [ital scrA][sub FB], or related quantities, could possibly be detected at some later stage at the CERN LHC or SSC.
