Determination of properties of zeolite/refrigerant combinations for solar refrigeration systems. Final report

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:5584766
The determination of properties of zeolite/refrigerant combinations of solar refrigeration systems are reviewed in this final report. The US DOE has funded several studies aimed at identifying potential rerigerant/absorption pairs for solar cooling applications. In the case of this report, the absorbent was already chosen (natural zeolite), but criteria of toxicity and heat of vaporization were common among projects. There were three very important criteria studied in this report which were not involved in the other studies. First, a lower evaporator temperature is used in this study than is typical of space cooling applications; second, the effects of molecule size on the system; and third, is the effect of the weight loading differential per unit mass of absorbent.
