Level scheme of /sup 166/Dy obtained by double neutron capture

The level scheme of /sup 166//sub 66/Dy has been obtained from measurements of the gamma rays and conversion electrons from the /sup 164/Dy(2n, ..gamma..)/sup 166/Dy reaction. The ..gamma..-vibration bandhead occurs at 857.151(12) keV and the neutron separation energy of /sup 166/Dy is 7043.5(4) keV. The results of this work show that, within the systematics of the even-even Dy isotopes, maximum deformation occurs at N = 98 (A = 164).
