Collaboration in nuclear engineering education between France and the United States: Research opportunities for US students in France

Conference · · Transactions of the American Nuclear Society; (USA)
OSTI ID:5580512
As part of a memorandum of agreement between the Department of Nuclear Engineering at Texas A M University and the Institut National Polytechnique de Grenoble (INPG), opportunities have been made available for students from France and the United States to engage in research and studies at each other's institutions. This paper focuses on the opportunities that have resulted from the memorandum of agreement for US students to study in France. The program in France focuses on the INPG and the Centre d'Etudes Nucleaire de Grenoble (CENG). CENG is one of the principal French research laboratories of the Commissariat a l'Energie Atomique (CEA). At CENG a broad scope of research programs is under way. Many of these coincide with the interests of faculty members at Texas A M University. Students from Texas A M are provided with the opportunity to go to Grenoble to participate in the research programs at CENG. This type of experience should prove valuable in developing engineers with the background to deal with the increasingly international scope of nuclear technology.
