The development of inspection planning tools based on reliability require modelling of the underlying mechanism. In case of fatigue crack growth in offshore structures, it is necessary to have accurate fracture mechanics models. This paper describes a general fracture mechanics model and how it can be applied for tubular joints in offshore structures. The numerical integration procedure used in the Component Fatigue Analysis module of a system for inspection planning is presented. The limit state functions used in the reliability analysis are given.
