Parameters of a Hubbard Hamiltonian to describe superconducting CU-oxides

Assuming that the Cu-oxide layers of the new high T/sub c/ superconductors can be described by a Hubbard Hamiltonian, the authors address two questions: what are the parameters of this Hamiltonian How to solve it In this Hamiltonian, the authors include only the Cu-3d and O-2p shells., that are taken to be filled in the vacuum state. They denote p/sup +/ and d/sup +/ (resp. p and d) the operators that create (resp. destroy) a hole in the various O-2p and Cu-3d orbitals.
