The real sea surface is not a perfect Gaussian process. However, for practical applications, it is assumed that the deviations are small and hence a Gaussian wave model is often used in the dynamic response analysis. In this paper the influence of the possible non-Gaussian sea surface on the dynamic behavior of jack-up platforms is investigated. The results indicate that the influence on the extreme dynamic response is significant.
