The energy losses ..delta..E, causing film heating, were determined for transmission of fast electrons. The losses were determined by microcalorimetric experiments based on the precision measurement of the electrical resistance of an irradiated film with known physical properties. Polycrystalline condensed Al, Ag, and Au films t=10/sup 2/--10/sup 3/ A thick were irradiated with E=40, 50, and 60 keV electrons. The dependences of ..delta..E on the electron energy, film thickness, and atomic number of the film material were determined. The experimental data on the energy losses were described qualitatively by the Bethe--Bloch equation for the deceleration of fast electrons in matter.
