Electromagnetic corrections to the semileptonic decays of polarized neutral and charged hyperons

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev. D; (United States)
Up to a certain accuracy, it is shown that the radiative corrections to the semileptonic decays of hyperons can be dealt with by a direct extension of a procedure originally introduced by Sirlin for neutron decay. We then compute the radiative corrections to the differential decay rate of polarized hyperons. From this expression the radiative corrections to rates and angular coefficients are obtained. We obtain a result suitable for model-independent analysis of experiments that improve the experimental accuracy on the determination of the differential decay rate up to 1 or 2 %.
