The pipeline industry in the 1990s faces significant technical challenges requiring innovative design, operating, and maintenance strategies. Public safety, system reliability, environmental issues, and cost reductions are constant concerns. These and other issues are developed and expanded upon in this conference proceedings that represents one volume of a five volume set pertaining to offshore development of mineral resources, predominantly oil and gas.
