Parameterization of match-derived pseudo-relative permeabilities

Conference · · Soc. Pet. Eng. AIME, Pap.; (United States)

Pseudo-relative permeability functions were generated by automatically matching the pressures and oil production volumes obtained from two-dimensional cross-sectional simulations. The 2-D simulations used actual reservoir fluid and rock properties, but incorporated hypothesized stratifications and dip angles. The resulting pseudo-relative permeability curves were correlated as a function of the water breakthrough time and the maximum pressure differences observed in the corresponding simulations. The resulting suite of relative permeability curves then offered a simple method of matching historically observed pressures and production volumes in three-dimensional simulations of the reservoirs. Similar possibilities exist for altering pseudofunctions to obtain history matches in areal models.
