SiC whiskers-reinforced ceramic matrix composites

The feasibility of developing a mullite-SiC whiskers composite has been investigated. Mechanical, physical, and microstructural properties of the composites are discussed. Fracture toughness and flexural strength of the hot pressed ceramic are improved considerably by such whiskers reinforcement.
