Scattering of 6. 9-MeV protons by /sup 12/C, /sup 16/O, /sup 24,26/Mg, and /sup 28/Si and the probability of spin flip

Differential cross sections have been measured for elastic scattering of 6.9-MeV protons by the nuclei /sup 12/C, /sup 16/O, /sup 24,26/Mg, and /sup 28/Si, and for inelastic scattering by /sup 12/C, /sup 24,26/Mg, and /sup 28/Si, together with the probability of spin flip in inelastic scattering in /sup 26/Mg and /sup 28/Si. A comparison is made with the results of other workers in this energy region. Possible mechanisms for occurrence of the reaction are pointed out.
