Regulated supply with variable output voltage of 300 V to 20 kV

Journal Article · · Instrum. Exp. Tech. (Engl. Transl.); (United States)
OSTI ID:5565212
This paper describes a regulated supply with a positive or negative output of from 300 V to 20 kV for a load current of from 1 mA to 200 uA or a bipolar output of + or - 150 V to + or - 10 kV for the same load current. The regulation factor is about 3500 and the ripple is 0.1%. The efficiency of the converter, high-voltage, transformer, and multiplier is 80% for an output of 15 kV. The supply is powered from a 50-Hz 220-V ac line. The supply is designed to power the new generation of image converters with light amplification by a microchannel wafer.
